Section 116Other general functions

(A1) [F1 The [F2Commission] is responsible for monitoring the application of Part 3 of this Act, in order to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals in relation to processing by a competent authority for any of the law enforcement purposes (as defined in Part 3) and to facilitate the free flow of personal data.]
(1) The [F3Commission] —
  • (a)

    is to F5... the designated authority in the United Kingdom for the purposes of Article 13 of the Data Protection Convention.
(2) Schedule 13 confers general functions on the [F6Commission] in connection with processing to which the [F7UK GDPR] does not apply (and see also [F8sections 120A and 120B]).
(3) This section and Schedule 13 are without prejudice to other functions conferred on the [F9Commission], whether by this Act or otherwise.
